Welcome to the global community (really a movement) for aspiring career changers with and without tech backgrounds to be connected, motivated, and encouraged as you seek to experience enjoyment through employment in a role in the tech industry.

Our focus extends beyond purely coding roles to business roles like Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Data Science, Product Support, Human Resources, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and more!

Empjoyment exists to unite Empjoyees (aspiring career changers building a career in tech), so that together, we can provide the Guidance, Accountability, and Support that is needed for the journey that is involved in switching careers, building skills and experiences, and excelling in your tech career.

This group is you if you’re willing to commit to these community values:

  • Adopt a Growth & Learning Mindset: You’re hungry to learn new things to get you to your next level (even if it’s learning how to learn). If you know it all already, there’s nothing we can do to help you in here.
  • Give rather than Take: Research proves that those who give and give freely and genuinely end up outperforming those that are primarily looking out for themselves. You’ll often get more than you would expect by giving generously. Having a taking orientation jeopardizes this, so please don’t join if you’re not willing to give back more than you receive.
  • Demonstrate an Abundance Mindset: You believe that there’s more than enough for everyone and that “all ships rise in a high tide”. This means you operate from a place of opportunity rather than scarce resources.
  • Take Action: This group is here to support you moving forward towards your goals. We’ll share info, but what you do with it is the only thing that matters. To make this happen, we’re constantly taking action and encouraging others to do the same through leading by example.
  • Share what you Learn: We believe that everyone has something to offer. Even if you don’t consider yourself an “expert”, you are in the area of your experience and we need that for us to all grow.
  • Build a Positive, Empowering Environment: We make a choice in this community to create a safe space where positivity, affirmations, and recognition reign supreme because through that we’ll see accelerated and exponential results.
  • Explore New Possibilities: There’s no one set way to approach a problem or your career. Be open to new ideas and tailor them to meet your needs.
  • Work Smarter not Harder: We’re about helping you get results through “smartcuts”, not “shortcuts”.
  • Leverage your Strengths: We’re all about working smarter and not harder, which often means identifying and leveraging what comes easy to you to differentiate yourself and add disproportional value.
  • Believe in Yourself and Others: We’re are certain that if you’re in this group, you are capable, worthy, and well-positioned for a successful career in tech. We believe that already, and will only operate from a place of opportunity.

The following activities are encouraged:

– Ask questions
– Share your challenges
– Start thoughtful conversations
– Explore new strategies
– Get Feedback
– Work together be exceptional not just in your professional life but your personal life.

The following activities are not permitted:

– Promote or share your own products, links or articles
– Post articles without a focus on starting a conversation
– Post jobs – Sorry, I know that many of you are looking for jobs, but it ends up cluttering organic conversation (aka leads to spam). You’ll have a chance to share one a week during “Share Saturdays”.
– Send or request private messages (PMs) – This is all community-facing activity -> if one person needs it we all will benefit
– Promotion of other Facebook groups, courses or programs
– Rude, hateful or insulting behavior.

Posts that violate these guidelines will be promptly deleted.  Violators will be removed from the group without explanation.

Note: Group admins may share links and promote opportunities if we feel as though it is of service to the group. We reserve that right as it is our group and community.
