What Meghan brought to the conversation
Meghan was a therapist, then a coach, and today she's a guide and mentor who calls her work heart-centered covert activism: everything she does around growth works on new pillars for how people do what they do, rooted in care and in the diverse creative intelligence she believes every person carries. Her book Unstuck Yourself blends human design, applied neuroscience, somatics and activism, and she recently took the TEDx stage. Now she's shifting her brand, identity and offerings toward one-to-many sharing: practical hope and a toolbox for crafting new ecosystems of being human together. She came in to step fully into the size of that call, the part of her that sees herself on massive stages with a message that's clear.
What shifted
Asked to name what she offers in her own words, Meghan chose thought partnership: thought leadership shows her a pedestal, and partnership is arm in arm. Niiamah turned that into a strategy, with the right few partners who already have communities calling her in to create curriculum and culture change for their people, the way she pictures reaching thousands every year three years from now. Then he moved the focus from her visibility, where she's already playing a big game, to her receptivity and her capacity to ask. Meghan named the shift herself: bigger asks, and letting other people do her marketing work joyfully.

Questions this episode answers
What is the difference between thought leadership and thought partnership?
For Meghan O'Malley, thought leadership shows her a pedestal, while thought partnership is arm in arm. Asked what a real partner feels like to her, she names reciprocity with a figure eight feeling, "I share me, you share you," along with flow, openness, safety and courage.
What is heart-centered covert activism?
It's Meghan O'Malley's own name for her work. Everything she does around growth carries a core of re-establishing new pillars for how people do what they do, more intentional and rooted in care, and of tapping into the diverse creative intelligence she believes every person carries.
Why should leaders share the messy part behind a polished stage?
Getting onto the TEDx stage was, she says, the most challenging thing she had done professionally, and when the polished photos arrived she wanted people to know that such moments have a messy alchemy before the magic. In her view, perfected facades lead people to believe someone else did it better, so she wants to celebrate the stage and also love people while they're in their becoming.
How can a leader grow a referral-based business through partners?
Niiamah Ashong's suggestion for Meghan: look for partners who already have communities and distribution and want her to create for their people, then ask what would make it easy and valuable for them to share her. The model doesn't need volume, only the right few partners with the right problems and possibilities.
How are receptivity and asking connected?
Niiamah Ashong calls the capacity to ask the cousin of the capacity to receive. Meghan had been working on receiving what shows up, and the coaching pointed her toward bigger, direct asks, like a ready line that invites the people she meets to share her work with the teams who need it.
In their words
